Job Overview
The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking an Aviation Academic Advisor. The University of Dubuque offers an excellent benefits package including tuition remission, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a retirement match.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Advisor to approximately 80-120 Aviation students
- Work closely with the Center for Advising to collaborate on academic advising and student needs
- Track student progress and assist with student engagement and interventions
- Provide training and guidance to department and other faculty advisors
- Assist the Center for Academic Advising with first-year advising
- Manage the assignment of students to faculty advisors
- Assist with student engagement
- Meet with prospective students and coordinate weekend Admissions events
- Oversee and manage prior flight training credit for flight operations students
- Assist with transfer students for scheduling and crediting transfer classes
- Assist with recordkeeping and data analytic needs
- Support alumni with advising related concerns
- Assist with student tours
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree is preferred
- Two or more years of work in the Aviation Industry and/or working in Higher Education
- Flight or Aviation Ground instruction is preferred
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
- Ability to take the initiative and follow through with tasks individually and as a group
- Proficient in Microsoft office and ability to adapt to multiple software applications
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students
- Flexible schedule for when the department has after work hour and weekend requirements
- Ability to work in an office environment at a desk managing student advising accounts
- Ability to speak in front of a group
- Ability to use discretion and confidentiality in department and University matters
