Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Overview

Spahn & Rose Lumber Co., the 2022 LBM Dealer of the Year, has an opening for an accounts payable specialist at our flagship store in Dubuque.  The accounts payable clerk is responsible for the accounts payable process including the processing of purchase orders, ensuring the accuracy of the entire process as it relates to receiving and invoicing, receiving invoices, and communication with vendors.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review and verify invoices and check requests
• Receive and enter purchase orders
• Works with yard receiving staff to ensure accuracy and timely processing
• Contact vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
• Monitor and manage supplier invoice dashboard.
• Enter, receive and attach documents for supplier returns
• Verify sales orders for margin and data entry for accuracy on special orders
• Perform special projects for General Manager as assigned. Assist with month end closing
• Follow safety and security requirements, you will need to maintain confidentiality

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Some college preferred; however relevant work experience would be considered in lieu of education
• Must have strong Outlook, Word, Excel and 10-key skills
• 1+ years of Full-cycle Account Payable experience
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with customers, staff and management
• Demonstrated organizational skills
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks
• Proven capability establishing good relationships and contributing in a team environment.
