Origin Design is continually seeking highly-qualified individuals to enhance our staff and better serve our clients. We are currently hiring a full-time Civil/Municipal Entry Level Engineer that will join our Municipal/Water Resources Team. The position will be based out of our Dubuque office.

Position Requirements.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
- Interest and/or educational experience in some of the following Civil and Environmental Engineering disciplines:
- Urban/rural roadway systems design.
- Public utilities including wastewater collection, water distribution, and stormwater conveyance systems.
- Water systems including well design, ground and elevated storage tanks, treatment facilities, and pumping facilities.
- Wastewater treatment infrastructure including lagoons, mechanical treatment facilities, lift stations, and disinfection.
- Stormwater management systems.
- Hydraulics and hydrology.
- Sediment and erosion control (NPDES, SWPPP).
- Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients, staff, contractors, regulatory agencies, and the public.
- Practical experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem solving, organizational and mathematical abilities.
Position Responsibilities.
- Work under the direction of a Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Perform engineering assignments requiring application of engineering formulas, standard techniques, procedures, calculations, and design criteria.
- Assist in the development of studies and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed drawings, exhibits, and specifications.
- Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D software to assist with development of design and engineering documents including drawings and exhibits.
- Utilize company electronic and graphical standards, workflows, and processes to maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy.
- Attend Client and City Council meetings with Project Engineer.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of design standards including but not limited to SUDAS, AWWA, 10 States Standards, Design Standards publications from the Iowa and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Illinois EPA.
- Research regulatory issues and ask questions of regulatory officials.
- Assist with regulatory agency permit applications including but not limited to Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Natural Resources, Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife.
- Perform quantity take-off calculations and cost estimating.
- Coordinate work with other disciplines.
- Assist with construction administration including coordination with contractors and inspectors, requests for information, site observations, pay requests and submittal reviews to verify compliance with construction documents.
- Assist with construction observations including construction documentation, tracking project quantities, and field quality control testing.
- Maintain knowledge of developing and current technology and practices related to the engineering profession.
