Job Specifications

The Manufacturing Engineer develops procedures and specifies equipment required to manufacture the products of the company. They develop and document manufacturing processes while developing and implementing stat process control techniques such as SPC, process capability and design of experiments (DOE). Manufacturing Engineers justify and coordinate the acquisition and installation of capital equipment and analyze manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput. They work closely with Design Engineering to achieve cost effective product designs while estimating staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions. They develop technical training for employees and create and maintain accurate documentation of tool and fixture drawings. Manufacturing Engineers provide engineering support in the production department to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems as well as coordinate work with tool room personnel, assigned technicians, and outside vendors.

 

Skill Set

  • B.S. degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with basic manufacturing performance metrics such as productivity, throughput, conversion cost, scrap and yield measurements.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing techniques such as cellular layouts, one-piece flow, statistics, and value stream mapping, SMED, Kanban.
  • A demonstrated ability for problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with the justification and acquisition of capital equipment.
  • Familiarity with capacity planning and the determination of human resource and capital equipment requirements.
