Job Overview
The Health Services Department collaborates in community health assessment, assurance, and policy development with a prime responsibility to plan programs, develop and implement policies and ordinances based on community health needs, and respond to related health issues and emergencies. We are currently seeking a full time Environmental Sanitarian Emergency Preparedness Planner to assist in emergency preparedness duties and communications; perform public health and emergency preparedness planning, response and recovery tasks; and technical inspection work involving the enforcement of state and local laws, ordinances and regulations. A Bachelor’s degree in public health, physical and biological sciences, emergency management/preparedness, environmental health or related fields; or equivalent experience and training; plus a valid state driver’s license are required. Completion of specific certifications within 6-24 months following hire are also required. The City of Dubuque offers an annual salary range of $56,971.20 - $74,443.20, plus a competitive benefits package which includes paid parental leave, health and dental insurance, flexible spending options, a defined benefit retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, student loan debt reduction and/or student loan forgiveness.
