Cascade Lumber Company is in need of a Purchasing Coordinator/Buyer to make an impact on our growing, family-owned business. For nearly 70 years we have provided outstanding customer service while distributing the highest quality lumber, windows, doors, and other building materials.
As Purchasing Coordinator, you will be responsible for sourcing a wide variety of products that include both stock and special-order items. Primary job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead procurement activities and manage vendor relationships
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies
- Maintain inventory levels at best possible pricing
- Negotiate terms to close deals with the best possible terms
- Reduce expenses and improve ordering effectiveness
- Identify and forecast market trends to identify potential changes in availability/pricing
- Enter purchase orders, track and monitor orders and expected dates of receipt
- Work with vendors on returns/warranty claims/damage claims
- Compile accurate inventory records by managing regular inventory cycle counts
- Communicate effectively to all internal departments to include sales, accounting, and yard
- Opportunity to assist our leadership team in other business areas dependent on candidate qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in lumber/building materials industry
- Familiarity with material sourcing and vendor management
- Analytical thinker
- Excellent math and computer skills
- Comfortable with negotiation and networking
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
