Job Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to find a career or for someone with industry experience. At Design Build Structures, we are willing to train the right applicant.
Skills:
- Communication: detailers communicate with engineers, architects and other construction professionals to understand the purpose of their designs and the requirements of their projects.
- Organization: detailers use organizational skills to keep track of their work and the work of their team. They use these skills to ensure that they complete all of their work on time and that they submit accurate and complete documents. Structural steel detailers also use organizational skills to keep track of their files and records. This includes keeping track of the original design files and ensuring that they have the necessary information to recreate the design if necessary.
- Attention to detail: detailers must have excellent attention to detail to ensure their work is accurate and precise. They must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other design documents to ensure they understand the intended design and can accurately represent it in their work. Structural steel detailers also use their attention to detail to ensure they follow all safety regulations and industry standards.
- Problem-solving: detailers use problem-solving skills to identify potential issues with designs and propose solutions. For example, they may identify a design that requires a larger amount of steel than the project has budgeted for. They may then suggest using a different design or changing the design to use less steel.
- Computer-aided design (CAD) software: detailers use computer-aided design software to create and modify structural steel designs. This software allows them to create and modify designs digitally, which can help them visualize the design and make changes more quickly than if they were working with physical models.
