Job Overview

We are searching for an experienced Sand Production Operator at our Generic Location facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

Summary:
Under the direction of the Sand Production Foreman, the sand production operator serves as a contributing member of the sand production team and the second operator on operating the dredge and/or monitoring the sand plant. This may include the operation of a dredge and monitoring of the plant when not operating the dredge.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Location and Compensation:
The production location may vary as assigned/needed. This position is full-time and may include a variation of work hours via a split shift rotation during peak production times. Pay will be adjusted during the split shift season. Earning up to $36.00/hr. Full-time season work with the opportunity to stay on in the winter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform

· Produce product at desired spec
· Follow correct testing procedures according to DOT procedures
· Meets or exceeds adjusted tons per hour as directed by management
· Operate equipment according to manufacturers specifications and without damage, or destruction of/to equipment.
· Communicates problems or concerns directly to supervisor.
· Communicates well with colleagues.
· Listens to direction and follows suggestions and/or tasks assigned, if unclear asks for further direction.
· Assists in monitoring equipment during production and notifies others of problems.
· Understands the importance of safety and where it ranks in company.
· Ability to safely, efficiently, and effectively operate dredge and sand plant.
· Maintain knowledge of booster pump and pipeline placement
· Must be willing and able to learn how to operate dredge in a reasonable amount of time.
· Must be able to take direction from Foreman and management
· Able to work independently with great attention to the details while monitoring and operating plant.

· Monitor operation of dredge
· Keep equipment maintenance logs
· Ability to make necessary adjustments and maintenance on dredge, including all preventative maintenance procedures, including oil levels, check fluids, grease daily and cleaning of equipment
· Ability to operate a variety of equipment as needed
· Assists in monitoring equipment
· Follow correct testing procedures
· Produce quality products to meet specifications
· Puts finished product in proper area/stockpile
· Abides by MSHA regulations as specified in MSHA handbook
· Follows company safety policies; and maintains up-to-date with all training
· Ability to perform basic computer functions and operate software

Working Conditions
· Continuous exposure to heat, cold, noise, and other conditions expected in working outdoors.
· Must wear protective equipment while at production location(s)
Additional Requirements
· Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
· Must pass DOT physical to include, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screen

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to deal with the public and satisfy to best of ability and within company guidelines. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to high, precarious places, extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee must be able to recognize safety hazards, and be prepared to react appropriately by utilizing the necessary safety equipment through the use of proper personal protective equipment

 

Required Qualifications:

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High School Diploma required
· CDL Preferred
· Prior experience in mining and with big equipment or similar skill desired
· Knowledge of Pumps, Sand Plants, Stackers, Generators, Dredge’s, Booster Pumps and pipeline placement desired
