About Us
The Dubuque County Fair Association (DCFA) is a non-profit organization established in 1953, to plan and operate the Annual Dubuque County Fair. The Association has grown immensely in 69 years and the DCFA now offers visitors ninety-six acres of acutely manicured property, three rental facilities with a combined square footage of over 32,000 square feet of indoor space, adequate parking for thousands of cars, a 3/8-mile dirt racetrack, an outdoor Festival Area, experienced event planners and full-service food and beverage amenities.

What You'll Do:
You will be under the administrative direction from the General Manger of the Dubuque County Fairground’s & Event Center in the Business and Event Planning Office.
Assists in planning, directing, coordinating, set-up and tear-down for the 200 plus events annually at the Event Center. Assist the team in developing rules, regulations, and rental price structures, assist the team in implementation of existing programs and newly created programs. When necessary, research, evaluate and provide statistics on existing programs, pricing, and events. Work with caterers, concessions and, decorators. Compose correspondence, reports, contracts, schedules to event renters and staff for private and public events. Assist in coordinating security needs for the annual fair and non-fair events with the Dubuque County Highway Patrol, and private security firms.
Manage day to day finances and operations which include, daily deposits, accounts receivable and payable through our Quick Book Program. Provide General Manger with end of month reports to present to the Board of Directors. Ensure that the team is knowledgeable in writing checks, daily deposits, and month end procedures in case of your absence. Maintain the Inventory Cost excel program of all food, beverage, and maintenance supplies.
Assists the team with the analyses, development and evaluation of the policies and procedures for the operation of the Annual Dubuque County Fair (e.g., compose correspondence, reports, contracts, and temporary staffing.) Assist team in attaining department goals to maintain compliance with all regulations (County, Health and Safety, Fire Marshal. Insurance).
Assists the team in the pre-set-up of all food stands if necessary
Under the direct supervision of the General Manager, provides advice to aid in determining feasibility, profitability and structure of event center activities; Assist in preparing budgets; study fiscal controls; compose correspondence, reports and maintenance work orders related to the event center; assist in development, implementation and analysis of various programs (e.g., new food and beverage stand pricing, new commercial areas, fee structuring, improvements, programs, etc.).
Evaluates and defines quality standards and timeline for selecting food and beverage applicants for the annual fair; research and analyzes food and beverage renter’s requirements to select the proper space (e.g., product selection, space requirements, references), accepts/denies applications and assigns space. Prepares, types, and mails (emails) contracts; receives executed contracts and monies; tracks contracts, charges, and insurances; prepares fiscal report of the Fair Rental revenue report.
Qualifications
Knowledge of Quick Books.
Knowledge of business administration.
Knowledge of Excel & Word Programs
A willingness to handle sensitive face-to-face contacts with customers and public officials.
Manage multiple demands or tasks on projects or programs.
Solve problems involving several variables in unique situations
What we expect of you:
A willingness to work every other Sunday late afternoon and evening during the race season. If workload permits, Sunday work hours can be traded for other hours off during the week.
Work in the office on Saturday Morning during certain parts of the season. These Saturday hours will be shared with other office staff. If workload permits, Saturday work hours can be traded for other hours off during the week.
The week before, during and after the Annual fair extra hours will be expected. The week of the fair you will be expected to work Sunday thru Sunday.
Large Events like Torquefest, Snocross, two plus day car shows, and others we expect extra hours to be worked.
