VP of HUMAN RESOURCES & CONTINUED IMPROVEMENT

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Human Resources (HR) and Continued Improvement provides executive-level leadership and guidance to the organization’s HR operations. The Vice President is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals. A successful VP of HR & Continued Improvement has a depth of process improvement experience, including several years of experience leading and executing process improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma and other continuous improvement principles.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. a) Reports to: President & CEO
  2. b) Supervises: Human Resources Manager

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organization’s long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management
  • Identifies key performance indicators for the organization’s human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organization’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics
  • Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues
  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements
  • Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management
  • Drafts and implements the organization’s staffing budget, and the budget for the human resource department
  • Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events
  • Managing and facilitating all Continuous Improvement initiatives and strategy
  • Driving a continuous improvement culture within the organization by prioritizing opportunities and execution of a Lean transformation strategy and metrics
  • Using metrics to provide support to process owners in linking projects to strategic operational objectives
  • Assisting teams in developing Lean roadmaps to use in the deployment of strategic objectives
  • Ensuring successful definition and execution of large, cross-functional improvement initiatives tied to annual strategic priorities
  • Identifying best practices within and outside the company and serving as a channel for best practice sharing and adoption across business units
  • Challenging organizational leaders when necessary to create an action-based culture of continuous improvement and increase CI and Lean-oriented thinking throughout the organization
  • Working with the finance department to evaluate project savings estimates, validate reported CI benefits, and ensure accurate accounting of CI productivity

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required, a graduate degree in business or MBA would be beneficial, a law degree highly preferred
  • At least ten years of human resource management experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred
  • Five years' experience in process optimization, operations, or business management
  • A sharp eye for identifying weak points in processes and organizational structures
  • A strategic and analytical mindset
  • An excellent communicator with top-notch presentation skills
  • A thorough understanding of the latest process enhancement strategies
  • Dynamic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Leadership and mentoring skills
  • Confidence in your abilities to lead organizational change

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. at times
