Overview

The Insurance Placement Specialist markets insurance for trucking and transportation accounts by gathering information from Producers and Account Managers, responds to inquiries regarding new accounts, negotiates premiums and terms with insurance carrier underwriters, prepares proposals, and binds coverage by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource for Producers and Account Managers and assists in executing marketing strategies and objectives.
  • Maintains marketing database including customer/prospect files. Makes recommendations that influence departmental decisions.
  • Must be able to manage a high level of insurance related information in a variety of formats and be able to identify appropriate carriers for unsealed risks in a timely manner.
  • Follows up with insurance carrier underwriters to answer questions and solicit quotes for new business.
  • Negotiates premiums, coverages, terms and conditions for prospective clients. Develops proposals.
  • May meet with insurance carrier underwriters and marketing personnel to develop business relationships in order to determine carrier's interest in various classes of business.
  • Sends new business submissions, applications, loss history, etc. to appropriate insurance companies.
  • Must regularly work with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Assists in the analysis of lines of coverage and insurance company trends with the intent of maximizing opportunities for new business placement and customer retention.  Plans and conducts market research to identify opportunities for increased sales.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree from college or technical school; or 2-5 years of related trucking insurance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid applicable insurance license(s).
  • Tech savvy; ability to navigate multiple systems including Agency Management Software and Microsoft Office products.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products.
  • Intermediate knowledge of insurance markets.
