Job Overview
The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Recreation Graduate Assistant for the 2023-2024 term, with a potential renewal for 2024-2025.
The Recreational Sports Department provides opportunities for the social and physical development of students through facilities operations, fitness and intramurals. The graduate assistant will provide administrative support and supervision of the recreational sports facilities and programs for students, faculty and staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees for the Recreation department
- Coordinate purchasing, inventory and maintenance of all equipment used for Recreation department
- Assist in maintaining accurate fiscal and student payroll records
- Assist in the collection, analysis and review of participation statistics and accident reports.
- Enforce facility and intramural policies and procedures
- Promotion, marketing, planning, and scheduling all intramural team and individual sports.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise programs, activities and special events
- Work directly with club officers in planning and coordination of travel, and other club events both on and off campus
- Assist with, develop and oversee policies and procedures for club sports programs
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required and the position is conditional based on acceptance into University of Dubuque Masters’ program
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Supervisory responsibilities include regular daily office hours and some evening
All graduate tuition is waived for the student for the term in which they serve as a GA. In return for a waiver of tuition, the assistantship recipient agrees to provide service to the University equivalent to twenty (20) hours per week.
