Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Graduate Assistant- in the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement for the 2023-2024 term, with a potential renewal for 2024-2025.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement
  • Participate in recruitment and marketing initiatives to grow membership and recognition of UD’s cultural organizations, as well as events and programming administered through the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement
  • Assist the Director with programming development and implementation in the Multicultural Center
  • Plan special events, including Cultural events, Diversity Lecture Series, Unity BBQ, Diversity and Inclusion Recognition Reception, and Spring Convocation
  • Guide and mentor undergraduate student organizations by providing administrative and technical support
  • Assist with public relations by coordinating social media messaging, campus messaging, and community messaging
  • Assist with general office support
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required and the position is conditional based on acceptance into University of Dubuque Masters’ program
  • Proficient computer skills (Excel spreadsheet, Outlook, Data entry technology, PowerPoint, Word, Internet, Search engines, and social media)
  • Flexibility with schedule as need arises (ex. evening or weekend commitments)
  • Utilize excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal
  • Ability to work with a variety of students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community professionals
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple ongoing projects at a given time

All graduate tuition and fees are waived for the student for the term in which they serve as a GA.  In return for a waiver of tuition and fees, the assistantship recipient agrees to provide service to the University equivalent to twenty (20) hours per week.
