Job Overview
SUMMARY
The PDP supply management specialist works closely with our customer base in the early phase of new product development by sourcing a wide variety of high quality, cost effective commodities, and kits. The PDP supply management specialist will identify alternative and more cost effective options for the customer where possible when quoting parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for new and existing customers by building and developing a supply base for procuring commodities that maintain competitive pricing and high-quality standards.
- Responsible for quoting formal RFQs from customers and assist customers with informal quotes when needed.
- Follow up on any questions, concerns, missing drawings, or other incomplete data on RFQ requests.
- Identify, contact & evaluate potential suppliers within and outside existing supply base.
- Manage projects and suppliers to insure quality products and timely delivery at the most cost effective pricing.
- Identify cost savings and product enhancement opportunities within their product line.
- Collect supplier information and establish purchasing relationship.
- Develop new supply sources where needed
- Coordinate with customers to address any excess or scrap inventory concerns
- Maintain open communications, provide feedback, arrange and facilitate meetings as needed to establish and maintain a successful supplier relationship.
- Assist in obtaining PPAP documentation when the quality department request assistance.
- Work with other departments such as the quality department and the warehouse on issues or questions related to parts shipping or packaging.
- Assist in resolution of global sourcing issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Associate or Bachelor Degree in or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, buyer, order fulfillment or related field
- Strong computer application skills including MS Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Knowledge of and experience in MRP and purchasing using SAP or similar system
- Must be highly organized and ability to multi-task
- The selected candidate will have teamwork skills, be confident and adaptable, excellent verbal and written communicate skills, conflict resolution skills, and be able to work independently.
Preferred
- CSCP, CPIM, CPM or CPSM certification
- 3-5 years of experience in supply chain, scheduling, planning, or order fulfillment
- Experience in process management, financial analysis, and negotiations
- Experience reading prints
