Job Overview

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily activities of Archives, including retrieving and refiling documents, providing digital copies of print material, accessioning and deaccessioning documents, responding to requests
  • Plan special exhibits featuring the Archives
  • Collaborate with librarians and faculty to teach archival research and information literacy skills effectively
  • Engage students, faculty, alumni, and campus departments in archives through marketing and outreach activities
  • Responsible for the hosting, cataloging, and platform support of OER (Open Educational Resources) materials through PressBooks
  • Provide leadership for digitization projects and manage in-house digital publications including Character and.., a journal published by the Wendt Program
  • Participate in an extensive information literacy program, including providing research assistance at the Reference Desk, and serve as librarian liaison for assigned departments
  • Collect statistics as part of planning or accreditation
  • Supervise student assistant(s)
  • Participate in library planning and library committees
  • Participate in the life of the University community through committee work, other academic and social opportunities, and being a respectful, cordial colleague

Position Skills and Abilities:

  • Work with Archival documents, including filing, retrieving, digitizing, etc.
  • Staff the reference desk about 10 hours per week
  • Provide support for the information literacy program
  • Computer skills: Specialized archives programs like Omeka and digital publishing platforms like OJS
  • Familiarity with web development, design, and standards

Qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited library degree (MLIS or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent service
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with WorldShare Management Services (WMS)
  • Familiarity with library systems and applications, such as link resolvers, proxy servers, etc.
  • One to two years professional library experience
  • Experience with information literacy, teaching, and reference
  • Experience in an academic library
  • Experience with creating, managing and using digital and archival collections
