Job Overview
Hotel Julien Dubuque is seeking an experienced Hotel Sales Manager.
The responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to the following:
- Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. The sources of revenue are to include: catering, group and corporate transient (Local Companies).
- Develop and maintain client relationships with key clients in order to produce group and/or convention business, to include room sales, food and beverage sales, catering/banquet services.
- Prepare proposals, contracts and confirmation of all group booking
- Finalize all catering details close to the event date to include menu planning, agenda setting and hotel meeting services. Effectively communicate to all hotel departments the information necessary to successfully execute the client' needs. Monitor contractual agreements pertaining to room blocks, meeting space, food and beverage and special concessions.
- Contact clients on the day of the event, be there to answer questions, assist with change and provide support. Solicit account leads from group meeting/event planners and decision makers for cultivation and development.
- Monitor guest satisfaction through follow-up surveys, thank you notes and phone calls.
- Assists director of sales in the development of annual sales plan and strategy to meet and exceed goals. Assists the director of sales in managing and negotiating account details and contracts so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.
- Attend trade shows, community events, networking functions and industry meetings. Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
- Participate in weekly business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other
sales-related meetings as required. Prepare sales reports and record sales calls and activities.
Job Requirements:
- Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel.
- Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP' including manager on duty coverage 4-5 weekends per year
- Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, with customers in a friendly and positive manner in order to solicit business, meet client needs and resolve complaints.
- Ability to input information using a computer system and software.
- Maintains a professional image at all times through appearance and actions.
- Three plus years of successful outside sales
- Self-motivation — able to work effectively and independently
