Job Overview

Primary Responsibilities:
- Locate and remove multiple invasive plant species.
- Collect plant specimens and prepare them for permanent storage.
- Enter, organize, and manage data from multiple research projects
- Use GPS data recorders and manage spatial data using GIS.
- Collect environmental samples and perform preliminary analyses.
- Development of data summaries.
- Assist with supervision of undergraduate research projects.
- Assist DNAS faculty with data collection from experiments.
- Assist with prescribed fire, in both wooded and prairie habitats, as part of a management crew.
- Perform other duties in support of the aviation department and the University’s Mission

- Instrumentation/Equipment skills: use appropriate field instrumentation and equipment
- Analytical skills: use appropriate computer software for data management and spatial analysis
- Writing skills: write documents for scientific and non-scientific communities
- Communication skills: speak to the public and participate as a member of planning/strategy teams
- Critical thinking skills: ability to present solutions to challenges
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related discipline with research emphasis in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Natural History, or similar area.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Previous experience with biotic surveys.
- Previous experience with GIS program (ArcGIS preferred) and Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
