DEPARTMENT: Outpatient
POSITION STATUS/HOURS: Full-time 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week)
Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

JOB SUMMARY:
The RN provides direct nursing care for patient and family in reference to the comprehensive nursing plan of care including common, well-defined nursing diagnoses and collaborative practice while in the outpatient and specialty departments. The RN uses basic communication skills to enhance patients’ expression of needs and evaluate patient response to implemented nursing care. The RN organizes, within the specified work period, those aspects of care for which he/she is accountable, and coordinates patient care with other health care partners. Is a resource person and teacher. Care given reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations. Utilizes initiative and strives to maintain steady level of productivity. Is a self-starter, compatible and supportive. Must be a team player and show flexibility to assist where help is needed. Organization skills and ability to prioritize are a must. Communicates on behalf of the patient and reflects the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department.
The outpatient department is a progressive department requiring this position to possess the ability to multitask in a fast-paced procedure environment, along with being creative and progressive in project development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Demonstrate competent skills to perform procedures independently
• Perform assessments and assist Providers with gathering patient information relevant to the patients’ individual needs as requested within scope of practice
• Set up clinic rooms and prepare charts for provider use
• Demonstrate ability to room and keep the flow of clinic patients
• Demonstrates ability to set up a sterile field
• Follow up with provider orders and patients’ needs
• Assist with obtaining prior authorization for services
• Work closely with other departments of the hospital
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Current Wisconsin RN License.
• Previous experience in Emergency Room or Surgical nursing, including: triage, procedure set up, wound care and advanced IV infusion required.
• Previous experience with Clinical/Diabetic nursing preferred.
• Basic Life Support required upon hire; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic 12 Lead/EKG certification must be completed within one year.
