The university is currently seeking a qualified individual to assume the role of Gift Officer. Under the direction of the Director of Annual Funds and Alumni Engagement, this position is responsible for carrying out designated duties and responsibilities for Clarke’s annual giving program, focusing on long-term objectives designed to grow revenue and enhance donor participation. This position will develop digital fundraising strategies and tactics that engage new donors, renew past donors, and upgrade current donors to major giving status.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage a portfolio of diverse donor prospects through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities to secure gifts up to $1,000 or more using digital communication tactics.
  • With input from the Director of Annual Funds and Alumni Engagement, plan and implement a comprehensive calendar of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
  • Stay regularly apprised of donor retention statistics and follow up with any assigned donors who have yet to renew their support this year.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Annual Funds and Alumni Engagement, Marketing team and external vendors, plan and implement Clarke’s online day of giving campaigns such as Giving Tuesday, Clarke Day, Great Give Day, etc.
  • Facilitate donor surveys and other portfolio outreach as needed.
  • Coordinate the Advancement Office’s monthly donor retention outreach for assigned and unassigned donors who have not renewed their support.
  • In partnership with work study students, review regional publications for alumni news and coordinate appropriate follow up communications (congratulatory notes, database update requests, etc.)
  • Manage the broad-based stewardship activities for endowed scholarship donors and work with department colleagues to implement annual stewardship outreach.
  • Develop and manage a volunteer stewardship outreach program in coordination with the VP for Institutional Advancement, Executive Director of Development, and key volunteers.
  • Assist with other Annual Fund and Alumni Relations duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 2-3 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, or a related field are required. Exceptional oral and written communication and people skills as well as knowledge of the MS Office suite and related technology are essential, as is the proven ability to work effectively as a team member. Knowledge of the Raiser’s Edge database or a similar CRM software is preferred. The ability to work occasional weekends and evenings is required.
