DEPARTMENT: Radiology
POSITION STATUS/HOURS: Full-time salaried exempt position (40-45 hours/week). Radiology is staffed 6:00 a.m. – 11 p.m. with call 11:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Monday-Friday and call Saturday 6:00 a.m. through 6:00 a.m. on Monday. *Note: hours subject to change to meet the needs of GRHC and our patients. Staff rotational on-call and holiday on-call hours. Flexibility to work any scheduled hours is required. Response time is 30 minutes. Call coverage as needed by the manager. The Fennimore Clinic is open from 7:30am to 5:00pm. The radiology personnel will also be completing laboratory duties which will be overseen by the Lab Manager with the assistance of the Radiology Manager.

JOB SUMMARY
The Radiology Manager performs, plans, organizes, controls, and supervises activities in the Radiology Department according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession and State and Federal laws. Recommends innovations in the practice and function of the department to Administration and carries out mutually agreed upon programs.
Must be able to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the hospital and clinic. Ability to handle multiple tasks, and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to hospital and clinic concerns. Fosters a team environment by providing orientation and training to staff.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties would include, but not be limited to the following:
• Supports GRHC mission, vision, and values.
• Assuring department in all locations meets required Joint Commission & state regulations and requirements.
• Oversee, maintain, and provide appropriate information and documentation for all department inspections according to all appropriate guidelines such as hospital, state, Joint Commission, etc.
• Staffing appropriately, preparing budget and monthly monitoring, orientation, competencies, training, and evaluation of all Radiology staff
• Lead team meetings; participate on hospital committees, and department manager meetings
• Is competent in the range of treatment needed by the following patients in the hospital/clinic: geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn.
• Continuously evaluates the quality of services and/or products provided to the department’s customers
• Develops, implements, and keeps current all radiologic policies and procedures.
• Ensures the department is in compliance with all applicable safety and security practices, infection control policies, fire and safety and disaster planning
• Exercises professional judgment and guidelines in maintaining and dissemination of radiology contrast and drug information to patients and health professionals.
• Directs the activities of and provides professional and technical guidance to radiology personnel.
• Ensure proper service management on all equipment and obtain appropriate records.
• Work closely and collaborates with Radiologist group, Physicist group, and other hospital staff to ensure equipment, staff, and protocol management meets standards.
• Ability to use and manage radiology PACS and hospital EMR systems.
• Ensure proper order management, diagnosis, CPT, prior authorization, and documentation of all radiology exams.
• Oversee quality assurance and controls in all radiology modalities with the ability to provide this information for hospital and inspection review.
• Plans and directs department and personal goals and projects.
• Practices radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patient and staff
• Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for patients and hospital personnel.
• Operate and troubleshoot radiographic equipment to produce quality radiographs of the body for diagnostic purpose, as directed by Radiologist.
• May operate mobile radiographic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient’s bedside.
• Transfer and properly position patients for examinations and provide immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
• Select and operate equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
• Use film markers correctly and consistently.
• Assist physicians in performance of examinations. Assist in performing first aid as necessary
• Practice sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness
• Secure and return supplies and maintains room stock
• Report equipment failures, safety, and personal concerns using proper forms and maintaining appropriate records
• Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• ARRT registered and Licensed Radiographer by State of Wisconsin.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification current upon hire.
• Knowledge of general radiography and fluoroscopy required.
• Experience using computer applications including Word processing, Excel/spreadsheets, and radiology information systems, such as PACS and hospital EMR, required.
• Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing radiology services.
• Problem-solving ability and analytical thinking required.
• Typing skills; good communication skills – both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, & general hospital practices.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and departments, and display a positive attitude.
• Willingness to assume responsibility for self-development.
• Must be flexible
• Ability to work efficiently and productively with good organization skills.
• Ability to exercise independent judgement.
• Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
