Job Overview
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Installs new server and network software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks. Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan. Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. Provides technical support and guidance to users. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administration
- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. Provides continuous reviews of architecture, monitors, and manages systems to provide maximum performance, availability and security.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary. Security minded, maintaining patch levels, spam filters, anti-virus protection, etc.
- Maintains the day-to-day operation of systems and network devices, establishes user accounts and security guidelines
- Provides second level support for issue resolution.
Analysis
- Monitors server and storage needs. Provides recommendations and requirements for implementation.
- Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.
- Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
- Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Support
- Demonstrates critical thinking in issue identification and resolution
- Schedules maintenance to minimize disruption to the business.
- Supports ongoing maintenance for patches and upgrades.
- Track record of log monitoring and tuning for a high performing environment.
- Trains and mentors first level support staff and user community
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- College degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 2+ years’ experience supporting Windows Servers in a multi-site environment is desired.
- Advanced technical knowledge of Windows Server 2008 / 2012 is necessary. MCITP and/or MCSE certification preferred.
- Advanced technical knowledge of WAN/LAN/VPN concepts. CCNA certification preferred.
- Demonstrated competence with 2+ years’ experience designing, installing, and supporting networks and systems.
- Knowledge of ITIL methodology desired.
- Proven troubleshooting skills.
