Position Summary

The Director of Student Engagement and Formation facilitates programming and resources that meets the basic needs of UD students. Additionally, the position assists in the management of the daily activities and functions within the Office of Student Life. Finally, the position is an integral part in the planning of collaborative events and activities that engages students to the campus and surrounding communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ø Coordinate and manage the Student Success Shop.

Ø Assist in the management of the Student Life and Student Formation budgetary functions.

Ø Coordinate and manage the Food Share Co-Op.

Ø Facilitate basic needs of students referred from UD Cares or the campus community.

Ø Coordinate Spartans Make a Difference Day and develop other community engagement events and resources.

Ø Collaborate with campus partners to develop engagement programming for students on campus and within surrounding communities.

Ø Coordinate the development of annual student handbook updates and facilitate the communication of resources related to Title IX and Student Conduct to the campus community.

Ø Lead, supervise, and manage a graduate assistant.

Ø Manage and utilize technology resources related to areas of responsibility (Student Success and Education software, department website, social media, and Learning Management System).

Ø Serve on campus committees (Student Engagement Committee, UD Cares, etc…).

Ø Serve as a creative and innovative member within the Office of Student Life.

Ø Supervise some evening, weekend, and late night programming.

Ø Additional duties as assigned.

Ø Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills.

Position Skills and Abilities:

Ø Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, supervise, and manage others.

Ø Strong active listening and communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).

Ø Experience or exposure to administrative skills and functions (budgeting, program evaluation/assessment, and program development).

Ø Ability to serve as an effective team member and collaborate with campus and community constituents.

Ø Identified projects that required prioritization of tasks and/or the ability to multi-task.

Ø Strong technology skills and experiences (Microsoft Office, Student Information System, Learning Management System, Student Success software, Website Management software, etc…).

Qualifications

Ø Master degree preferred (strongly preferred in College Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education, or related field).

Ø 1-3 years of professional work experience related to student development or success programming; or similar work experience and undergraduate/graduate experience in Student Affairs.
