TITLE: President & Chief Executive Officer

POSITION STATUS/HOURS: Full-time – salaried, exempt position. Benefit eligible
JOB SUMMARY:
The President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for enhancing the internal organization processes and infrastructure that will allow Grant Regional Health Center to continue to grow and fulfill its mission. The CEO is responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive array of patient services and programs. To achieve these goals, the CEO’s major areas of oversight will include strategy, innovation, and differentiation through programs, outcomes and clinical analysis and the promotion of quality and excellence. The CEO will represent the organization in senior level relationships and will collaborate with the senior management team in the development of higher-level strategic initiatives. The CEO is a conduit between our service area and our hospital to meet community and patient needs. In addition, responsible for physician/provider recruitment for patient services to provide “local” care as often as possible for the communities we serve. Grant Regional is a joint commission accredited not-for-profit facility.
The CEO will:
• Provide the vision, leadership, management and implementation of programs/services
• Provide effective leadership and people management to ensure a competent and productive labor force; select, assign, direct and evaluate the performance of subordinate administrative staff and department managers
• Practice good guest relations with patients, visitors, physicians, staff, and assist as needed
• Demonstrate awareness of the responsibility of the position and how it interfaces with the rest of the healthcare team. Work closely with all department members as required, is flexible to meet the needs of the department and changes in workload
• Accurately demonstrate use of database systems to document occurrences, committee review and actions. Compile reports for committees, Board of Directors, and administrative team
• Communicate and present effectively. Able to express ideas/opinions, use appropriate congruence communication methods; deal with employees, patients, community members openly and honestly; and is receptive and attentive to communication/feedback from coworkers, customers, physicians, the public, and Board of Directors
• Demonstrate creativity and initiative in job. Contribute, develop, support and/or carry out new ideas and methods in cooperation with provides, coworkers, and management
• Knowledge of applicable State & Federal regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, Joint Commission standards, etc,
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, marketing, clinical discipline or related discipline is required. Clinical background, prior industry experience preferred
• Ten or more years of hospital/medical/healthcare senior-level administration experience required. Familiarity with the Southwest Wisconsin market area highly desired
• A strong background in building positive relationship with leadership team and providers, with a track record of recruitment providers for programmatic development
• Excellent financial and analytical skills and strong business acumen; experience carrying out growth strategies while maintaining the highest levels of quality and customer service
• A strong track record of providing effective leadership as measured by quality, operating and financial performance, as well as patient satisfaction, physician relations and employee satisfaction
• Computer proficiency including MS Office software, ability to learn and successfully utilize electronic medical records and other clinical software. Ability to compile and analyze data

o Be a great listener, open to feedback, without becoming defensive when challenged or questions
o Bring a high-trust, “partner-with” mindset in all interactions
o Engage and empower leaders, providers, and staff to provide high-quality and compassionate care, consistent with the values of the organization
o Have a track record helping to drive change and working effectively while driving results in a collaborate environment. Is comfortable with ambiguity and non-hierarchical
o Have a demonstrated track record of documented success in working collaboratively with providers. The CEO will be experienced at bringing diverse groups together around a common vision or singular program and will view providers as partners
o Be highly strategic with a track record of collaborating with boards and senior leadership teams to develop and implement strategic plans for the organization
o Be visible and accessible throughout the region, in the community and to all providers and staff
o Build consensus through positive relationships built on mutual trust and respect, and by leveraging effective negotiations and persuasion skills

2) Running a hospital, like GRHC, requires a leader to deal effectively with a variety of challenges. For each of the following topics, indicate the primary challenge--as you see it--and one initial idea or approach that you would seek to implement to address each challenge.
a. Are there healthcare challenges unique to rural regions, such as Grant County, and how can an organization like GRHC seek to address these challenges?
b. What steps can GRHC take to ensure that it remains an effective organization that benefits our community in the decades ahead?
