Join the Y and make a difference! The Dubuque Community Y is hiring a Child Care Food Service Assistant Cook at our new Early Learning Center located off of Chavenelle Road in Dubuque! Starting at $14/hour, this position also includes a free Y membership and meals are provided if your shift is during a mealtime. No nights or weekends are required and we are closed most holidays! 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with the Food Service Director in preparing meals that meet the needs of the children.
  • Assists with planning and preparation of all meals for the children.
  • Prepares meals and snacks following the CACFP guidelines.
  • Familiar with CACFP guidelines - this can be obtained by taking CACFP classes on the IPOWER and CACFP training sites
  • Communicate Needs to the Food Service Director to ensure all materials and food items needed to prepare meals are available,
  • Assists with meal preparation, serving, and cleaning up of the kitchen and all dishes.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to DHS / CACFP regulations.
  • Presents self in a professional manner; dresses appropriately.
  • Attends staff meetings and any additional education required by DHS or the Department of Education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age, have some direct childcare experience and basic knowledge of cooking and kitchen responsibilities
  • Must receive a negative Criminal Records Check Report
  • Must provide a physical report with a negative TB test
  • Must either be certified or can be certified in CPR/First Aid, Universal Precautions and Bloodborne Pathogens. Training in Mandatory Child Abuse provided.
  • Completes required DHS licensing continuing education annually
