Responsibilities

The university is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the full-time role of Senior Accountant.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Process payment requests, maintain vendor records, and act as the organization's point person for receiving, reviewing, and processing payment requests within a paperless AP environment.
  • Prepare monthly closing, journal entries, post transactions and complete reconciliations.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of various surveys and reports, including 990, 941, sales tax, IPEDS, etc.
  • Maintains regular contact with campus departments to obtain information and/or to correct transactions.
  • Extensively utilizes databases and spreadsheets for data gathering, verifying, and analysis.
  • Use professional judgment and discretion to research, track and resolve problems with transactions or accounting records.
  • Assist with annual insurance renewal.
  • Assist with the gathering and preparation of work papers for the annual external audit.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to various departments.
  • Train faculty and staff in the use of various financial software.
  • Provide backup for several positions within the department as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Keen problem-solving skills that enable the ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks and priorities
