POSITION OPENING – Fall 2024
Job Title: A part-time, in-person, adjunct instructor for CSC 337 Database Programming Fall (Aug-Dec) 2024.
Position Overview: As the CSC 337 Database Programming course instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the field of data management. You will design and deliver engaging course content, assess student progress, and provide support to help students achieve their learning goals. This role requires a deep understanding of data management concepts, practical experience in the field, and a commitment to student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help develop and deliver comprehensive course materials on data management, including lectures, assignments, and exams.
- Teach data management principles, data modeling, database design, SQL, data governance, and data quality.
- Facilitate engaging and interactive in-person classes.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their performance.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data management.
- Support students via email, discussion forums, and mentoring as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in data management, data analysis, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL), data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance.
- Previous teaching or training experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
- Willingness to utilize eLearn (Loras College’s learning management system).
