POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Inclusion and Advocacy- Success Initiatives will assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives designed to close equity gaps by increasing the retention, persistence and completion of Loras students from historically underrepresented populations. The assistant director will provide holistic advisement to a cohort of students who need assistance in achieving their academic and career goals. The coordinator will provide guidance and support via a variety of initiatives including personal coaching, academic mentoring, student organization advisement, etc.
In particular the role will oversee and manage all aspects of the First-Generation Scholars program at Loras College, a scholarship program for students who are the first in their family to work towards an undergraduate degree. In addition the role will advise 1-2 student organizations within the center. The student organizations embedded within the office includes Loras League of United Latin American Citizens, the Black Student Union, the Global Student Union, the LGBTQIA+ Alliance, or the Asian American and Pacific Islander student organization.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Aids in planning and facilitating of First Generation Scholars programs including it’s recruitment, implementation, and retention programmatic features.
- Advises the various identity focused student organization groups such as the Black Student Union, Loras LULAC, Loras Alliance (LGBTQIA+ affinity group), First Generation Student Advocacy, etc.
- Aid in selecting, training and evaluating coordinator student staff
- Coordinates development of the Center for Inclusion & Advocacy website and brochures.
- Assists with assessment of all programs within the Center for Inclusion and Advocacy
- Encourages student participation in college activities.
- Provides leadership development opportunities for students and facilitates leadership programs on campus.
- Provides support to the student organization system by monitoring fundraising, service projects, leadership training and compliance with college policies.
- Works closely with various college departments to coordinate event logistics. Responsible for office calendar of events and activities.
- Helps prepare budgets for the office including budgets for office initiatives and proposing new budget requests
- Supports the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s required, Masters in College Student Development, Student Affairs, or College Student Personnel Preferred
Experience: Knowledge of theory and practices of college student development related to identity and inclusion.
Other Requirements: Strong analytical skills. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication abilities. Solid interpersonal and supervisory abilities. Skilled in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends, particularly with programming and activities. Demonstrated effective in budget management, facilities supervision, computer systems and staff and student development.
