Summary/Objective

Responsible for ensuring that shipping and receiving processes run smoothly. Ensure complete orders are shipped on-time. Manage shipping department staff who confirm and record the receipt of shipments, prepare items for shipping, perform secondary operations, and load and unload trucks.

Essential Functions

  • Complete tasks and conduct behaviors consistent in the promotion of a standard of excellence.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report any unsafe situations to management or human resources.
  • In-person, on-site, predictable attendance and punctuality in alignment with position’s scheduled hours.
  • Promotes an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Works as level between team members and Plant Manager to create healthy, streamlined communication.
  • Collaborate with other departments to prepare for shipment of orders.
  • Manages shipping team members’ overall performance including production activities to ensure cleanliness of work area, and adherence to company processes, procedures and policies.
  • Ability to identify training needs of individual team members and effectively implement.
  • Generate daily ship list and forecast daily/weekly shipping priorities.
  • Direct the logistics of company truck
  • Interacts with ERP system, documents, spreadsheets, and computer software as required.
  • Processes order based on the customer’s preferred shipping system (e.g. USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.)
  • Verify packaging procedures to ensure safety of shipment.
  • Provide coverage for shipping department tasks as needed; Load/unload trucks, process orders, pull goods, wash (if applicable), assemble, pack, and prepare shipments including proper postage and shipping documents.
  • Promotes a company-wide environment of continuous improvement and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Checks products for defects and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing blueprints.
  • Utilizes a variety of tools and equipment such as forklift, inspection gages, scales, manual machines, and wash tank.
  • Capacity to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics.
  • Engage in maintenance of the company’s quality system and adheres to standard operating procedures, departmental work procedures and company policies as applicable.
  • Participates in employee training programs and communication meetings.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required
