Human Resources Director

Job Overview

Portzen Construction is currently searching for a Human Resources Director.  Portzen Construction, Inc. is located in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Human Resources Director will organize and administer the recruitment and hiring of the company’s workforce.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct and collect information for new employee orientations.
• Maintain employee personnel files.
• Research and understand labor laws and make sure company is in compliance with all government reporting regulations. (Ex: EEO, ERISA, FLSA, etc)
• File and maintain 401K documents.
• Assist with payroll processing.
• Manage and administer employee benefit programs.
• Update Employee Handbook.
• Understand Collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Communicate with Union administrators and personnel.
• Recruit new employees through job fairs, job postings, etc.
• Other administrative duties as need.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
• Three to five years of relevant experience.
• Experience with labor relations preferred, but not required.
• Self-directed, organized, and self-motivated to accomplish goals.
• Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills is a must.
• Proactive and pragmatic thinker, is deliberate and decisive in making decisions.
• Solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organization skills.
• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
