Job Overview
The Product Design Internship will begin in May and end in December of 2025.
At Colony Brands, our Product Designers work collaboratively with our Merchandisers, Catalog Managers and Vendors to build our product from the “front-end”. Your work will center on hard lines for selected company brands and catalogs. Your work will involve creating visuals to present concepts to Merchants, developing technical specifications and evaluating functionality of products in both physical and digital form. You’ll also be responsible for:
- Utilizing 3D modeling software and sketching with physical and digital mediums to create and render hard good concepts
- Working with merchandisers to develop product designs appropriate to customer style needs and expectations
- Working with design staff to determine product form, function and manufacturing processes consistent with strategic design direction
- Developing strong working knowledge of the development process from idea conceptualization, through merchandising, sampling to catalog placement
- Maintaining library of color and material samples
We need an exceptionally creative individual with professional level communication skills, who thrives in a fast paced, team environment. Ideally you will be working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or Graphic Design.
- At least Junior Senior standing, recent graduates may be considered
- Cumulative GPA of 2.80 or higher
- Basic knowledge of 3D modeling and sketching experience. (Rhinoceros 5 preferred)
- Basic knowledge of photo-realistic rendering techniques (Flamingo Nxt preferred)
- Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CC
- Above average communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to think and develop “out of the box” ideas
This position is not eligible for remote work and would require you to work onsite at our headquarters in Monroe, WI for the duration of your internship.
