Are you a dynamic problem-solver with a passion for supply chain and manufacturing operations? Bodine Electric is seeking a Buyer to join our team and play a crucial role in sourcing, procuring, and negotiating materials, equipment, services, and supplies to support our manufacturing processes and achieve corporate objectives. In this position, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Sales, Design, and Manufacturing—to resolve production issues and ensure smooth operations.

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring supplier performance meets our high standards, taking corrective actions when necessary, and providing valuable feedback to the Director of Supply Chain Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, procure, and negotiate the purchase of materials, equipment, services, and supplies essential for manufacturing and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Design, Manufacturing) to ensure corporate goals are met and production issues are resolved.
  • Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, provide coaching, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address complex production challenges.
  • Evaluate and analyze supplier quotes, prices, and delivery times to ensure the best value and timely supply.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques such as value stream mapping, kanban, JIT, and one-piece flow.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across supply chain operations.
  • Use data analysis and decision-making to enhance procurement strategies and processes.
  • Manage inventory effectively and ensure optimal levels for smooth production flow.
  • Microsoft Excel and Access experience

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Finance, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years of progressive experience in sourcing and procurement roles.
  • Strong knowledge of commodity-specific factors impacting purchasing decisions.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and work with resource and planning information systems.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, decision-making, and using Excel/Access.
  • Experience in negotiating contracts, prices, and delivery times while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and inventory management best practices.
  • Excellent time management, multitasking, and organizational skills.
