Job Overview
Description
The Conservation Aide will, under the general supervision of the Executive Director, assist in the maintenance and development of all parks, preserves, and management areas under the jurisdiction of the Dubuque County Conservation Board. This is a seasonal position, with varied hours up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Job Duties
- Performs routine maintenance of facilities and grounds, and equipment; including mowing, refuse and debris removal and painting.
- Assists in the construction, installation, removal and repair of facilities.
- Operates various hand and power tools, vehicles, tractors and mowing equipment.
- Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and vehicles.
- Reports problems with facilities, grounds or equipment to Director, Deputy Director or Park Rangers.
- Will be trained to perform public relation tasks and to provide information to area users.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Graduate; must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid Driver’s License-Some working knowledge of tools, equipment, and methods used in the park and recreation setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Willingness to work a non-standard workweek; including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to pass a criminal background investigation.
Supplemental Information
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds; ability to climb steps, squat, stoop; ability to be on feet for a minimum of one hour; ability to sit in the same position for extended periods of time; ability to reach above head; ability to withstand extremes of temperature, all with or without reasonable accommodation.
