Dubuque Main Street is seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead our organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for overseeing strategic planning, operations, financial management, fundraising, and community engagement. This role requires a passion for downtown development, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with business owners, investors, government officials, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for DMS.
- Build strong public-private partnerships with businesses, property owners, and local organizations.
- Develop and implement strategies for business retention, recruitment, and economic growth.
- Lead fundraising efforts, including grants, sponsorships, and events.
- Oversee DMS operations, staff, and volunteers while maintaining financial stability.
- Ensure DMS meets national accreditation and legal compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of experience in economic development, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Proven leadership in community engagement, fundraising, and business development.
- Strong understanding of historic preservation, downtown revitalization, and marketing.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, build partnerships, and work independently.
- Willingness to relocate to Dubuque (if not already a resident) and engage in community activities.
