JOB PURPOSE AND CULTURE
This position supports the Community Foundation’s overall goals and mission to empower communities and ignite generosity. It has a major focus on maintaining and nurturing relationships with donors. This position promotes a concierge-level of service for both prospective and current donors through engagement, stewardship, and communication strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Development Department in developing annual work plans and long-term philanthropy goals
- Carries out the goals and strategies of donor relations work plan
- Assist donors in achieving their philanthropic goals by providing services to build trust, strengthen understanding of the Community Foundation, enhance their impact, and increase donations
- Plan and execute educational programs, stewardship events, and engagement opportunities for donors and community
- In partnership with the Director of Communications, write powerful stories for our core audiences, including donors and nonprofit professionals, which will run in newsletters, in reports and on our website
- Create yearly donor communications plan, and manage all correspondence with donors, including endowment payout letters, monthly fund statements, reports, cards and notes
- Manage donor recognition plan and stewardship initiatives
- Ensures the Community Foundation meets the highest standards of prompt response and accurate information to assist donors and advisors
- Monitor overall satisfaction of donor experience
- Establishes and maintains a process for tracking donor engagement activities and gift information in CFGD’s CRM, including the Legacy Society and Endowment Society
- Participate in professional development-related groups like AFP, AdNet, and other donor relations associations
- Represent CFGD at community, regional and statewide events as appropriate
- Participate in regular staff and other internal meetings
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated successful relationship building, customer service, and/or fundraising and donor relations experience
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to think critically and communicate persuasively
- Mature judgement and emotional intelligence
- Demonstrated familiarity with Northeast Iowa preferred
- A high level of flexibility with the ability to work in a small office environment and to promote a team-oriented atmosphere
- Organizational values of ethics, honesty, integrity, trust, and teamwork
- Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite. Must be proficient in learning financial management software and CRM databases
- Effective and efficient time management skills and techniques for work in a fast-paced environment, where it is important to prioritize and organize workloads to meet multiple duties and deadlines. Ability to balance the need for accuracy with the need for task completion
- Ability to work the hours required for this position. Comfortable with occasional travel and working evenings and occasional weekend.
