Area Residential Care (ARC) is now hiring for an organized, determined, and detail-orientated individual for our Nursing Services Assistant opening. Area Residential Care has been around for over 50 years providing services for adults with intellectual disabilities. The Nursing Services Assistant will play a role in providing the best care for our individuals and will ensure they are getting the best possible treatment at ARC.

Job Summary

The Nursing Services Assistant transports individuals to appointments in the community, serving as an ambassador for the agency, and interacts regularly with staff from other departments. The Nursing Services Assistant provides critical support to the staff nurses, enabling a high quality of care, and assistant with the day-to-day routine, paperwork, filing, and reports as needed. The Nursing Services Assistant must work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum

· Requires High School diploma/G.E.D. and six consecutive months of relevant work experience.

· Certified Medication Aide (CMA) or wiliness to successfully complete CMA class within three months of hire. Proven record of accomplishment of successful medication passes required.

· Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets agency authorized driver criteria.

· Transports individuals to medical appointments and supervises individuals at appointments.

· Knowledge of health-related aspects of care and training of persons with disabilities.

· Must be proficient in Word and Excel.

· Requires excellent written and verbal communication skill

Physical Demands of Position:

Physical requirements: ability to lift 20 lbs. and 50 lbs occasionally. Ability to bend and reach.

Office requirements: ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, frequent use of computer, May be required to use adaptive equipment for individuals served (wheelchairs, walkers, prosthetic equipment, etc.)

Pay range: $15.25-$16.18 Calculated based on education level and relevant experience.

Job Type: Full-time The shift is from 7a/8a- 3:30/4:30p Mon-Fri. Working overtime is needed.

Hours/Days of Work and Working Conditions:

ARC is now offering a 4.00 wage differential on weekends for all hourly employees, Includes shifts from Friday night at 11:00 Pm to Monday at 7:00AM

A 1500.00 retention bonus and a 1000.00 referral bonus, where applicable.

Area Residential Care is a private, non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization, created in 1968 by a group of parents and other interested parties. Its mission is to empower people with intellectual disabilities to achieve their highest quality of life. From its inception, Area Residential Care’s purpose has been to provide community-based services for persons with intellectual disabilities. The organization has grown over the past 40 years to serve an average of 250-275 people with disabilities annually; providing residential, vocational, and day services in Dubuque and Dyersville communities.

Through a variety of community-based residential and vocational programs, Area Residential Care helps people with disabilities become active, participating members of the community. Giving people with disabilities choices about where and how they live, work and socialize with their non-disabled peers is the essence of Area Residential Care’s purpose.
