As a Childcare Assistant at MercyOne, you will assist the Teacher in the care of children ranging in age from 6 weeks 9 years.  Programs are designed around the developmental needs of children.   

Schedule:

  • Part-Time Days; Primarily looking for candidates to work hours between 10:00am – 6:30pm, or 11:00am – 7:30pm. Our Child Development Center is open Monday through Friday 5:45am – 7:30pm. No weekends or holidays!

Education:

  • Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter. 

  • One to two years previous work experience with children and/or schooling in Early Childhood Education is highly desirable.

Functional Position / Assignment – Virtual RN

  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring & evaluation of the patient’s plan of care from admission to discharge.  

  • Utilizes clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills & the principles of case management & adult education to coordinate, implement & support the plan of care.   

  • Ensures a seamless, effective, efficient transition of care across the continuum.  

  • Responsible for monitoring quality metrics specific to the department & ensuring complete & accurate documentation in the patient record.

Assignment Minimum Qualifications (required) 

Minimum five (5) years of equivalent experience in health condition management in an adult acute care clinical setting with direct patient care experience within the last 10 yearsClinical information systems experience (e.g., EHR).

  • Conducts assessment

  • .9 FTE, 36 hours per week

  • Day shift: 6:00 am – 6:30 pm 

  • RNs work 12-hour shifts

  • Schedules are made every six weeks ongoing. Staff are encouraged to select preferred shifts for scheduling. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in nursing required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

  • Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa

Dental Hygienist

Role: Provides oral hygiene services and treatment to patients of all ages. Participates in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of oral health care. Provides professional dental hygiene leadership through compliance with established routines, policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical services including but not limited to: oral prophylaxis, instruction for proper home care techniques for oral hygiene including tooth brushing, flossing, nutrition and need for professional care; apply topical fluorides and sealants; screen and evaluate clients regarding caries detection, periodontal pathology; assess medical history; operate digital radiography equipment; supra and sub gingival scaling and curettage; root planning; procedures involving team periodontal techniques; administration of local anesthetics; gross debridement in treatment of acute periodontal conditions.

  • Assists dentist as required in treatment of teeth and gums.
  • Uses all available resources in diagnosis and treatment in an appropriate and cost-efficient manner.
  • Maintains electronic clinical records and maintains other records regarding services provided, supplies and materials used.
  • Participates in development of dental policies, procedures, dental record, and quality improvement plan.
  • Maintains, uses, processes, and stores instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established standards.
  • Participates in ensuring professional education for self and staff to maintain the highest level of expertise.
  • Maintains positive relationships with other professionals within the community.
  • Completes all other assigned projects and duties.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Sunnycrest Manor is accepting applications for RNs who performs nursing care to the residents of Sunnycrest Manor in accordance with the Iowa Nurse Practice Act.

Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Nursing Department Management Staff.

Supervision is exercised over certified nursing assistants, restorative nursing assistants, nursing assistant transporters, ward clerks, certified medication aides, and program instructors.

Examples of Duties

  • Reviews prior shift records, reviews treatment and medication instructions.
  • Assigns and supervises the work of nursing assistants and others on an assigned shift involving the plan of care of residents; instructs subordinates on procedures and techniques for the routine care of residents.
  • Personally administers medications; giving injections, catherizations, inserts nasogastric tubes; changes dressings, checks blood pressure; and provides other nursing services as indicated.
  • Documents condition, development, and treatment in patient records.
  • Observes and evaluates patients’ condition and initiates action.
  • Accompanies physicians on rounds and gives information as requested.
  • Briefs relieving or supervisory staff on nursing shift developments.
  • Assists Registered Nurse in utilizing the nursing process which involves assessment, nursing diagnosis, the establishment, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
  • Administers, records use, monitors effects and side-effects of medications.
  • Consuls with patients’ families.
  • Follows proscribed protocols for safety and infection control.
  • Monitors nutritional status and dining process of residents.
  • Assists Registered Nurse in the development of Minimum Data Set (MDS) Assessment and the formal care planning process.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a school of nursing approved by the Iowa Board of Nursing and is licensed practical nurse as issued by the State of Iowa.

Must pass the prescribed pre-employment physical, abuse registry review, and criminal background check.

Special Qualifications:
All employees will be subject to the Sunnycrest Manor Mandatory Vaccination Policy immediately upon hire.

Thorough knowledge of:
The minimum standards of nursing practice for the licensed practical nurse in the State of Iowa.
Precautions to be taken in the use of medications.
Treatment, diagnostic, immunization and related medical services for the type of patients in an area of assignment.
Rules, regulations, procedures, and policies pertaining to nursing services of the assigned institution.

Ability to:
Observe medical problems and initiate appropriate action.
Assign and supervise the work of a staff of nonprofessional personnel and to instruct them in practices and techniques.
Accurately maintain patient medical records and prepare reports.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, subordinates and others contacted in the course of work.
Work with aggressive patients.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements:
Vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Effective verbal speaking and hearing abilities are needed to handle communications with staff, residents, and others.
Requires pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
Requires standing most of the time to perform work responsibilities with regular walking between locations.
Requires ability to walk steps, reaching, squatting, stooping, bending, and sitting, pushing, pulling, twisting, gripping and apply physical intervention holds.
Some exposure to slippery surfaces when floors are wet.
Exposure to chemicals from cleaning compounds and exposure to bodily fluids require the use of personal protective equipment to safe guard against potential biological and chemical hazards.
Work is primarily indoors.
