Lecturer of Business and Finance

The School of Business within the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture seeks a Lecturer of Business and Finance to instruct undergraduate Business and Finance courses. This is a full-time, 9-month position, with an anticipated start date of August 25, 2025. Teaching duties include preparing course materials, developing syllabi, teaching both classroom and activity-based courses, preparing, administering, and grading of exams and assignments, and holding office hours.

Summary: Performs routine physical, chemical and microbiological testing on gelatin samples.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collects and prepares various gelatin, in process, by-products and raw material samples for testing.
  • Performs laboratory tests including microbiological, chemical and physical in accordance with written procedures.
  • Obtains finished, semi-fished and environmental samples as needed for analysis.
  • Identifies non-conforming product and reports to quality management.
  • Accurately records data via lab reports and enters test data into computer system.
  • Performs weekend and holiday rotation including routine micro and chemical/physical testing.
  • Prepares media and stock solutions required for performing tests. Maintains lab supply inventories.
  • Keeps work area, supplies, glassware and other equipment clean, organized and properly cared for.
  • Calibrates or verifies lab equipment, when appropriate.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university

Preferred Qualifications: One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in a science field.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: The Rousselot plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position requires day shift work. Occasional weekend work on a rotating schedule and occasional overtime will be a requirement for this position.

Manufacturing Production Operator

The Dubuque facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and has an opening for a production operator. Applicants with manufacturing and forklift truck experience are highly desirable.

Job Duties:

  • Operate food processing/production or packaging equipment in the gelatin plant, to manufacture products according to production and quality standards.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s) as instructed.
  • Respond to process upsets and alarms appropriately.
  • Monitor and document the quality of outputs.
  • Maintain accurate daily production records.
  • Perform routine cleaning.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Availability to work any shift.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Mechanically inclined and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Food Manufacturing experience.
  • Fork truck license or ability to learn how to drive a fork truck.

Expected Hours of Work:

This position requires day/night shift work on a rotating schedule. You must be able to work any shift for this position. Weekend work will be a requirement.
