Continuous Improvement Engineer

Drives manufacturing and business process improvements through application of “Lean” principles, tools, and techniques. Responsible for identifying opportunities, developing, and executing action plans, and delivering results that eliminates waste. Coach and develop team members to create a continuous improvement culture that routinely hits its goals relative to safety, quality, delivery, and profitable growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use a data driven approach, formulate and execute projects to achieve improvements and sustain and measure the results.
  • Create Value Stream Maps to identify opportunities for production/process enhancement to improve processes with respect to safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.
  • Develop and implement lean initiatives including set-up reduction, workplace organization, standardized work, process/workflow improvements, and visual management.
  • Provide leadership in problem-solving efforts on key activities.
  • Be a Lean Champion, trainer, coach, and mentor to motivate and inspire large scale change.
  • Work in tandem with manufacturing engineering to own factory layouts, line design, and best practices.
  • Learn “Visual Knowledge Share” (VKS) software and assist with creating digital work instructions for shop floor and business processes. Ensuring processes are well defined, accurately documented and effectively communicated for operator training.
  • Accountable for complying with all Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing technology, business management or equivalent education and experience in a related field preferred.

 

Experience: Exposure to Lean Manufacturing – Kaizen, Workplace Organization, Standard Work, Set-up Reduction, Visual Management, Practical Problem-Solving, Value Stream Mapping, and Quality Control.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the building, equipment, fixtures, and furnishings. Performs routine custodial work including vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting; washing walls, doors, and windows; and emptying trash. Performs minor preventative maintenance and minor repairs to equipment used. Assists maintenance personnel as needed. Reports major repair and maintenance needs.

Higher Education Sales Consultant

Ready to make your mark in higher education? If you excel at building relationships and exceeding goals, Kendall Hunt Publishing is looking for a driven Acquisitions Sales Representative to join our team. We’re seeking a talented professional with strong communication and sales skills to develop lasting partnerships with college professors.

This position is based in office and includes approximately five weeks of overnight travel per semester, alternating with weeks spent working on college campuses. The role is based out of the Dubuque, Iowa home office and serves the Iowa and Wisconsin regions.

It’s your job to interview, listen for business potential, and persuade select candidates to work with your company by partnering with experts in their field. At Kendall Hunt Publishing, as an Acquisitions Sales Representative, you’re the driver and decision maker. You call and travel to different colleges and universities in your territory to identify business opportunities, interview professors, and persuade author candidates that have what it takes to become Kendall Hunt authors. We want to partner with talented educators in charge of lower-level, higher-enrollment courses to develop more interactive and engaging materials that solve the needs of their students and can make an impact in their college career and in the difference, they make in the world in the future.
