POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for all processes relating to the submission and payment of charges for assigned accounts. This includes reviewing and making necessary corrections prior to billing, preparing, and submitting the hardcopy claims generated from Brightree, responding to and resolving all requests for information concerning the receivables, reviewing and addressing partial payments and denials, and reviewing and resolving outstanding receivables not paid in a timely manner. Responds to accounts receivable inquiries/issues and performs assigned tasks and research in a timely, professional manner. Customers include clients, families, third party payers, physicians, referral sources, community, home medical equipment and hospital staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.    Performs all related accounts receivable tasks utilizing appropriate policies, guidelines, and standards.

2.    Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies such as CMS, The Joint Commission, and others.

3.    Ensures charges are valid and meet the payers’ coverage criteria and documentation requirements prior to generating a claim/invoice.

4.    Prepares and submits all paper claims in a timely manner.

5.    Performs follow-up and resolution of all charges rejected at the front-end edits for charges submitted electronically.

6.  Reviews and resolves all written requests for additional information, all partial payments and all denials that are related to the accounts receivable issues.

7. Researches and responds to questions, concerns from customers and third-party payers regarding issues concerning accounts receivable issues.

8.  Works the Aged Balance Report for outstanding receivable not paid within 60 days and perform necessary follow-up or activity required to resolve the outstanding receivables.

9.  Assures that all receivables are paid or adjusted in a timely manner.

10.  Assists management to meet targeted operational benchmarks and quality indicators.

11.  Participates in orientating, educating, and mentoring staff.

Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a phlebotomist.

As a Phlebotomist at MercyOne, you will be Phlebotomists are responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients of all age groups in a timely and accurate manner using appropriate venous, arterial, or capillary technique.  All specimens are collected strictly following all related policies and procedures. As the face of the laboratory, phlebotomists always maintain professional behavior and technical skills demonstrating well developed customer service skills.

General Requirements:

  • Previous experience or training not required.
  • Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
  • Prioritizes and organizes the collection of blood and other approved diagnostic specimens based on Stat, expedite, timed and routine testing criteria with minimal supervision.
  • Accurately identifies patients prior to collection of specimens using two patient identifiers as established by laboratory policy and appropriately labels and accessions these specimens.  All data is recorded as required neatly and accurately.
  • Collects blood specimens and other approved diagnostic specimens based on the orders received and obtains appropriate specimens following established laboratory protocols.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of certified phlebotomy course preferred but not required.
  • Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.

Position Overview:

What You Will Do at MedOne:

  • Member Advocates are the primary source of information for members, pharmacies, and physicians via phone, email, and chat.
  • Provide information and resolve member, pharmacy, and physician inquiries. Research and resolve claim processing and eligibility issues
  • Serve as an intermediary between healthcare organizations and members in facilitating patient care
  • Compile and record information and correspondence related to member needs or requirements
  • Document engagement outcomes and steps taken with clarity and concision
  • Think quickly on one’s feet while navigating multiple systems to effectively engage with members
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other departments to resolve issues and improve the member, physician, and pharmacy experience
  • Effectively work through difficult conversations with members while maintaining composure, showing empathy, and displaying active listening skills

What you will bring to MedOne:

  • An active CPhT (Pharmacy Tech Certification) is highly encouraged but not required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Willingness to obtain certification as a pharmacy technician within one year of hire.
  • Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility with scheduling, including rotating Saturdays and evening shifts
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Spanish speaking abilities are highly valued for this role.
