Parks Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, perform and supervise maintenance tasks to keep grounds, facilities, equipment and buildings in parks, right-of ways and public places well maintained; and perform other duties as assigned. Duties may involve plumbing; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; landscape and turf area maintenance; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Work in this class involves responsibility for performing and supervising a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds in parks, rights-of-ways and public places. Assignments are received in the form of oral or written work orders. The work is performed according to general or specific instructions of a supervisor who inspects work while in progress and upon completion.

 

Job Duties

JOB DUTIES:

  • Inspect the work of other employees.
  • Train others in operational procedures, equipment usage and safety.
  • Operate hand and power tools; light, medium and heavy equipment; small and large turf and landscape care equipment; snow removal equipment; and vehicles.
  • Inspect and repair playground equipment, picnic tables, and other amenities.
  • Apply pesticides, and other chemicals in the care of landscape vegetation. Research and read technical information needed to perform maintenance or repairs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
  • Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
  • Maintain buildings, work equipment or machinery, facilities and grounds creating safe environments for self, co-workers and citizens; and time and other records.
  • Repair buildings, equipment, facilities and grounds; electrical circuits or wiring; plumbing fittings and fixtures and structural components.
  • Clean, adjust and lubricate equipment or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order.
  • Order materials, supplies, or equipment.
  • Lay out work according to specifications.
  • Plan work procedures.
  • Supervise employees as a lead worker.
  • Record information about parts, materials or repair procedures.
  • Measure distances or dimensions.
  • Remove snow and ice from public walkways and parking lots.
  • Respond to questions, complaints and service requests.
  • Participate in the Intercultural Competency Training program.
  • Monitors and enforces park and facility rules, regulations, reservations and policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Equipment, Building and Grounds Maintenance and Repair – Planning and doing the basic maintenance on equipment, facilities, grounds, machines or tools.
  • Troubleshooting – Figuring out what is causing equipment, machines, wiring, or plumbing to not work.
  • Safety and Security – Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, safe work procedures and strategies to promote effective local operations including OSHA and ANSI laws, occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to equipment, building and grounds maintenance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require sitting, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, grasping and repetitive motions; both near and far vision (with or without corrective device); lifting, dragging and pushing supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; acceptable hearing (with or without corrective device) and safely work with power and noise-producing tools and equipment; and driving a motorized vehicle.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold, indoors and outdoors.

 

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain the following within six (6) months of hire:
    1. A valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with air brakes, tanker and combination endorsements.
    2. State of Iowa pesticide applicator certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Building/Property Maintenance or related education and/or certification.
  • Experience in the repair and maintenance of equipment, grounds, and buildings including some experience in construction work as a building or mechanical trade apprentice.
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce and population.

Transit Dispatcher (PT)

Position Summary

 

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Transportation Services Operations Supervisor, the Transit Dispatcher/Scheduler will schedule and dispatch bus drivers, work crews, equipment, service vehicles or buses for conveyance of passengers or for normal installation, fixed route/minibus/contract services, or emergency repairs within the city limits of Dubuque; and perform other duties as assigned. Duties include using radio, telephone, or computer to transmit assignments, and compiling statistics and reports on work progress.

 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THIS CLASS: Work in this class involves responsibility for assisting the Transportation Services Operations Supervisor by directing and coordinating the scheduling and dispatching of public transit services. The employee in this class must exercise independent judgment in handling urgent scheduling and dispatching situations; as well as other requests for service. Assignments are received from the Transportation Services Operations Supervisor through oral and written instructions. Work is reviewed through reports, conferences and results achieved.

 

Job Duties

The Shop Technician services and maintains Portable Fire Extinguishers for walk-in customers at our shop location. Responsible for maintaining a professional, productive, and safe work environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist customers in fulfilling service needs.
  • Understand product capabilities, warranties, product usages and challenges, to further educate and serve customers.
  • Responsible for notifying direct supervisor of any equipment break down or malfunction or any unsafe working conditions.
  • Must be able to lift or carry heavy objects.
  • Understand and implement the concepts and principles of NFPA 10.
  • Complete inspection worksheets and any other appropriate paperwork for customer, local AHJ’s and customer’s insurance company.

**Training is provided and paid for**

Fire Extinguishers:

  • Perform inspections and routine maintenance on extinguishers.
  • Clean extinguishers and recharge them with approved materials.
  • Inspect, repair, and test fire extinguishers using hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment.
  • Dismantle extinguishers and examine mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; replaces worn or damaged parts.
  • Maintain/Recharge CO2 Cylinders.
  • Hydro-test low/high pressure cylinders.

Kitchen Hood Exhaust Cleaner

Job Responsibilities

  • Inspect and clean kitchen exhaust systems in accordance with National Fire Protection Association Standard 96.
  • Cleaning full kitchen exhaust systems including: hoods, duct work, access panels, filters, and exhaust fans.
  • Setting up all equipment for the cleaning process.
  • Provide appropriate documentation after each assignment detailing service of work performed, deficiencies, or repairs needed.
  • Document completed work by providing before and after pictures of each service
  • Ability to work flexible hours including late nights, early mornings, mid-day
  • Must have attention to detail in the cleaning process.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude while on the job
  • Drive work vehicles to and from job site

Work Experience and Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License with good driving history.
    • Must be insurable
  • Must be dependable and on time.
  • Must not have a phobia regarding heights
  • Must not mind getting dirty
    • (washer, dryer, shower provided)
  • Must be able to climb ladders to get on the rooftop to clean fans.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold weather outdoors.

After 30 days, uniform options can be provided

  • Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
  • Must have good communication skills with customers and management.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must Have Reliable Transportation to our shop location
    • Company vehicles are provided for transportation from company to work site and back
  • Knowledge of basic tools

Required education:

  • Preferred high school or equivalent, but not a must.

Required license or certification:

  • Driver’s License (REQUIRED)

Training Provided (usually completed within 30 days, but depending on circumstances- at most 90 days)

Salary:

  • Beginning: $16.00
  • After Training Completion (30 days – 90 days): $17.00
  • Opportunity for raises up to: $19.00

Part-Time, but can receive full-time hours depending on demand of cleaning jobs

Jobs are usually scheduled during these times:

  • Day Shift: usually 4:00AM – 2:00 PM
  • Middle Shift: usually 11:00 AM -7:00 PM
  • Night/Overnight: Usually 6:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Warehouse Associate – 1st Shift

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday (Overtime as needed)
  • 6:00am to 2:30pm

You will be responsible for a wide range of warehouse activities, manual and clerical inventory support in processing cartons, data entry, and forklift operation. The Warehouse II will also audit orders to check and inspect cartons to reflect accurate quantity and condition for completeness.

Primary Duties:

  • Check, inspect, audit, and log data into the appropriate inventory systems to reflect the quantity and condition of merchandise received or distributed.
  • Prepare cartons for processing.
  • Locate, prepare, and affix appropriate labels.
  • Pack, scan, sort, and route cartons.
  • Load, unload, and pick utilizing vehicle cube effectively and according to specific route/stop orientation.
  • Train and coach associates in basic procedures and techniques.
  • Utilize various pieces of material handling equipment (MHE) including pallet movers, stand up forklifts, high lift reach trucks, and order picker.
  • Utilize RF scanners to electronically perform warehouse activities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 1+ years of warehouse and/or maintenance experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to utilize, or learn to use, all necessary computer software and equipment.

Physical Demands:

Often standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping. Occasional sitting, talking/hearing. The use of hands/fingers are often needed.

  • Continuous lifting and carrying of 1-20 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of 21-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of 51-100 lbs. with the assistance of a buddy-lift or a mechanical device.
     

Vision requirements for driving equipment and company vehicles include:

  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).
  • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).

Area Sales Manager

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of action-oriented area strategies that result in profitable growth and success with focused initiatives by addressing market requirements, key customers, competitive threats and new technologies. You will build organizational capability across the area sales teams while leveraging and partnering with key enterprise resources to deliver organic growth. As an ASM, you will be a key point of leadership and you will influence to help cascade and execute the strategies, directives, and objectives associated with business transformation and operational excellence across the company for long-term success. In this role, you will be the point person to leverage best practices from other geographies for deployment/execution within the assigned territory, as well as serve up best practices from within the assigned geography to be shared and executed in other territories.

The Industrial Area Sales Manager will serve as a leader for the River Valley Super District, which includes branches in Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Southern Illinois, and Tennessee.

Primary Duties:

  • Build organizational capability across the area sales teams while leveraging and partnering with key enterprise resources to deliver organic growth. Ensure that the appropriate internal and external sales tools are in the hands of the sales team that serves our current and future customers and that those tools are being fully utilized.

  • Analyze the effectiveness of the team and functions and maintain a strong voice by recommending opportunities for change in sales force structure, assignments and selling activities to produce maximum, profitable volume, while achieving a best cost to sales ratio.

  • Establish area best practices focused on new market penetration with customers that differentiate Crescent in the industry based upon market trends and customer needs.

  • Analyze and evaluate current and future needs to determine and recommend annual sales expense budgets.

  • Work collaboratively across all sales organizations within Crescent to facilitate mutual growth across product, service/solutions offerings, strategic initiatives, and national accounts.

  • Support the development and execution of an operational excellence plan that standardizes and centralizes key common functions across Crescent.  Lead employees to understand and embrace the benefits of this new approach and teach to understand how doing so helps us win in the long-term.

  • Produce and increase sales through digital tools, sales promotion, joint sales calls, supplier engagement and industry specific involvement

  • Plan and administer methods of controlling expenses within budget.

  • Manage the performance of the team through S.M.A.R.T. goal setting and effective and frequent performance feedback, focused on the “what” and the “how” the team member is performing. Lead the team to develop and execute individual development plans for all employees, with specific CASM emphasis on engagement, retention, and development. Lead local and enterprise efforts to build the bench of talent and develop capable successors for all “key” positions within the assigned geography.

  • Develop, nurture and maintain key stakeholder relationships at the top 10-15 accounts in the assigned territory/region.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) or Business Administration Degree with marketing emphasis or commensurate experience; A Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Sales/Marketing. Experience in various sales and marketing roles with increasing responsibilities.

  • Minimum 1 years of experience in field sales management, managing direct sales teams.

  • Experience managing Product line marketing and/or operational experience a plus.

  • Valid Driver's License with the ability to travel up to 75% of the time to coach, develop & accompany CAMs on Joint Sales Calls in 3+ branches.

  • Outstanding communication (oral and written) and presentation skills especially with key stakeholders at top 10-15 accounts in assigned territory/region.

  • A contemporary understanding of electrical construction/residential markets and the methods that can be deployed to maximize sales in the market.

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical products, solutions and services and how to apply them within local Code(s).

  • Ability to influence others – both direct reports as well as indirect reports – from within the Crescent organization.  Additionally, a demonstrated ability to influence customers and business partners that are external to the Crescent organization.

  • Proven ability to work well with across multiple functions and geographies to build best practices and drive best in class results.

  • Detail-orientation with a dedication to weekly pipeline review & focus on shortening the sales cycle through usage of the Crescent Sales Process.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasional standing required. Often walking and sitting, the use of hands/fingers, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.

  • Ability to travel and visit customer sites and travel through assigned territory and attend company and vendor activities and events, which will require overnight stay.

Strategic Initiative Support Specialist

As the Strategic Initiatives Support Specialist at Crescent Electric Supply, you will provide clerical support to the Strategic Initiatives Staff.  You will assist Strategic Initiative business units as required to help with operational efficiencies, maximize profitability, increase sales and assist with critical customer retention projects (e.g. product coding, customer coding etc.).

Primary Duties:

  • Externally and internally promote Crescent Electric’s Strategic Initiative growth platforms.

  • Assist with efficient tracking and expediting of open projects and implementations for all Strategic Initiative growth platforms by following-up on bid requests with vendors, tracking shipments and other related assigned tasks.

  • Assist with Accounts Payable issues arising from customer projects and match up invoice pricing as well as cost and units of measure with purchase orders.

  • Assist in maintaining customer related portals, customer documentation, certificates of insurance, tax documents, etc.

  • Assist on new Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Information (RFI), and Request for Quotes (RFQ) or other customer inquiries.

  • Assist with submittal of documentation and RFQ’s where applicable to customer portals.

  • Assist in RFQ and RFI follow up.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills, good listening skills, ability to establish relationships with customers, employees and vendors.

  • Ability to use a fax, and telephone is required.

  • Strong, comprehensive computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook products).

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under time constraints and against deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Valid Driver's License Required.

  • Prior experience or knowledge of the electrical distribution industry preferred.

Physical Demands:
