Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a Part-time Virtual Reality Certified Flight Instructor.

Hours are Monday - Friday 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Position Summary:

The Virtual Reality (VR) Certified Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality training to students utilizing the university's virtual reality equipment. This role involves instructing trainees in the use of VR systems, assisting them with training, and providing timely and effective feedback. This position will also be responsible for setting up and maintaining the virtual reality computer systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction on the use of the Virtual Reality (VR) headset and controllers, ensuring students understand how to navigate the virtual environment and interact with the simulated controls
  • Ensure proper fit and adjustment of the VR headset to minimize discomfort and optimize the training experience for each student
  • Provide real-time feedback and assessments within the VR environment to enhance pilot skills and decision-making capabilities
  • Provide individualized flight instruction and/or guidance to support students, adapting teaching methods to diverse learning styles
  • Maintain accurate records of student schedules, progress, flight time and training activities
  • Open and close the VR room each day of operation, including setting up and maintaining VR equipment
  • Account and inventory for all VR equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Position Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with students
  • Expertise in operating and troubleshooting VR hardware and software
  • Ability to troubleshoot and correct technical issues efficiently
  • An understanding of basic teaching principles

Qualifications:

  • Must be working towards or have a Bachelor's degree in Flight Operations
  • CFI certificate preferred
  • Prior experience operating VR equipment
  • Must maintain a professional appearance
