Job Overview
Summary:
The Parts Manager works diligently to return a satisfactory profit on the capital invested in parts inventory. They accomplish such objectives by identifying, implementing and enhancing purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, pricing, and merchandising, displaying and advertising.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Forecasts goals and objectives for parts team and strives to meet them.
- Maintain balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the service department, dealer accounts and retail customers.
- Establish pricing parameters to each customer category to generate strong gross profit while maintaining and growing customer loyalty.
- Establish inventory parts levels and balance those with adequate inventory turnover.
- Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence.
- Review and enforce policy on the special ordering of parts.
- Analyze sales, expenses and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals.
- Develop and administer aggressive wholesale parts program to produce improved profit.
- Ensure that the same high-quality level of service provided to outside customers is also provided to internal customers.
- Work with service team to ensure timely turnaround of parts.
- Analyze part operations and storage layout and revise as needed.
- Develop sales promotions.
- Handle customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain neat and professional appearance.
- Travel to our Illinois and Wisconsin office once per month.
- Additional duties as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience as a parts or service manager.
- Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
- High attention to detail.
- Able to work with executive team as well as mentor/lead other team members.
