Position for the Multi-Specialty Clinic location
Grand River Medical Group is seeking a motivated and dependable Patient Accounts Representative to perform clerical duties as part of the Revenue Cycle team. These duties include answering all incoming business office calls from patients and staff, assisting with billing questions and payments, posting personal payments, assisting with insurance eligibility checks, completing FMLA and Disability paperwork and assisting with claim management overflow.
The ideal candidate will provide a high-quality customer experience while maintaining a friendly and positive environment. They will also display self-motivation while possessing the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
As a Patient Accounts Representative, you will need the ability to use office equipment such as computers, telephones, and fax and copier machines. You will need to understand the importance of accurate demographic and insurance information as well as basic insurance knowledge.
This is a part-time position, 25 hours per week. This position is 5 days per week, with no evening or weekend requirements. Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 12:00pm-5:00pm.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist patients with billing questions, payments and complaints at business office window.
- Review and update patient information making necessary changes and capture correct patient demographics and insurance information.
- Process, research and post all personal payments to patient accounts.
- Provide assistance to other departments including past-due account courtesy calls when needed.
- Assist with determining patient insurance eligibility.
- Assist with updating and maintaining proper billing alerts and notifying patients of alerts prior to appointment.
- Prepare paperwork for medical records release of information requests, FMLA and disability forms; create the claim and collect payments.
- Inform business office staff when there are IT problems, changes, etc.
- Participate in corporate compliance program and follow HIPAA/HITECH guidelines.
- Complete all other assigned projects and duties.
.Education/Experience/Skills:
- Ability to provide a high-quality customer experience with each interaction.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Friendly, empathetic, and accountable.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of similar or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic insurance knowledge preferred.
