Description
Medical Associates Clinic is hiring a Full-Time Patient Accounts Representative to join the Tri-State Surgery Center team.
This position is responsible for maintaining accounts receivable including insurance verifications, including a phone call to the patient/guarantor regarding their responsibility, entering patient demographics, entering patient charges, filing claims accurately and completely as well as posting payment and any follow up with insurance companies and/or individual patients.

Schedule: Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm. Position works 80 hours per pay period, full benefits eligible!

Effective February 14, 2022 Medical Associates will follow National CMS guidelines on COVID-19 requirements.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Complete insurance verifications and a courtesy call to the scheduled patient/guarantor to verify the accuracy of contact and insurance information as well as their anticipated responsibility based on their current policy and copays, deductible and coinsurance.
- Send transcribed documentation to coding company within one (1) business day. Once coding is received, verify CPT and diagnosis codes were completed accurately and completely according to the specific insurance and enter codes into the operating system for billing.
- Identify, verify and post payments and adjustments to the accounts receivable, balancing the daily reconciliation of patient receipts and deposits.
- Identify any patient and/or insurance billing questions and complaints, handling in a timely and courteous manner or informs manager of unresolved issues.
- Generates and submits primary/secondary claims and statements daily.
- Review any accounts for possible assignment to collections agency, making recommendation to Manager and prepare information for collections agency.
- Cross-trained to Receptionist/Scheduler role.
- Complete all other assigned projects and duties
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience: One to three years of similar or related experience.
Education: Equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
Physical Aspects:
Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction.
Repetitive Motions - Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
