Grand River Medical Group is seeking a motivated Patient Care Technician to deliver high-quality care to our patients in a fast-paced patient care setting. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to rooming patients, phlebotomy, injections, and other tasks required to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate would possess robust Medical Assistant, EMT, or CNA experience and the ability to work efficiently under the supervision of the clinician. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have strong organizational and critical thinking skills. You will also need to be a team player and work closely with the receptionist, clinicians, and all other members of the care team.
This is a full-time position, 35-40 hours per week. This position offers flexible scheduling, with evening and weekend requirements. Urgent Cares are open Monday-Friday, 7:30am-7:00pm, and Saturday-Sunday, 8:30am-4:00pm.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare patients for clinician office visit: greet and escort patient to exam room, obtain vitals, update medications and allergies in the electronic medical record. Explain procedures appropriate to visit.
- Perform point of care testing, including but not limited to blood draws and specimen collection for influenza, COVID, strep and urinalysis.
- Assist the clinician with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Demonstrate ability to perform and assist with clinical procedures. Provide direct patient care as ordered under the direction of the clinician.
- Accurately administer medications.
- Document accurately in all areas of the electronic medical record.
- Promote wellness by providing patient educational materials, communicating clinicians' advice and instructions to the patient and/or family and assess the patient and/or family understanding of the instructions and information.
- Communicate to patient test results and return phone calls in a timely manner.
Education/Experience/Skills:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Minimum one year related experience and/or training in a healthcare position (i.e. Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, EMT, etc.) required.
- On-the-job training provided!
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
