Full Time
Monday - Friday, 5:00 am - 1:30 pm, for 80 hours per pay period. There is a holiday and a every third weekend rotation.
Utilizes excellent customer service skills to collect blood specimens from patients of all age groups in a timely and accurate manner using appropriate venous, arterial or capillary techniques. Works in conjunction with Lab Leadership to facilitate technical skills training and staff development in phlebotomy. Serves as a lead resource person for the phlebotomy team.

Responsibilities
Exceptional Care Delivery
- Actively participates and presents at phlebotomy/lab meetings. Good communication skills are required for formal and informal communication.
- Provides initial training and in-services to the phlebotomy team when new blood collection products and procedures are instituted.
- Assists with phlebotomy staff scheduling and helps direct the daily workflow of the Phlebotomy Team.
- Assists with phlebotomy supply management.
- Assists the Laboratory Director with Phlebotomy staff Performance Appraisals, Counseling Statements and Disciplinary Actions.
Committed Team
- Prioritizes work in the best interest of the patient, sharing the work with team members.
- Serves in a preceptor role, providing teaching support for the training of new employees and students.
- Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
- Attends department huddles, staff meetings and other required training.
- Checks emails regularly for huddle minutes and important communications relevant to assignment.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of hospital clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency.
License(s)/Certification(s):
- Requires certification [PBT(ASCP) or equivalent] through a national certifying body upon hire, or within 12 months of employment.
- Exam eligible candidates must attempt the exam within 9 months of hire to allow time for retesting if needed within the 12 month timeframe. Must maintain active certification throughout employment.
