Job Overview

Bodine Electric Company, the leader in design and manufacturing of fractional horsepower gear motor for the power transmission and motion control industry has an opening for a planner. Planners are responsible for planning and establishing schedules for a defined segment of our manufacturing operation, involving highly diversified parts, and assemblies to conform to requirements of the master production schedule. They work with the purchasing department to ensure sufficient parts are planned and released to support production schedules.  Planners monitor material inventories, track progress of production and review factors that affect schedules.  They make necessary modifications to schedules, issue orders to appropriate departments or suppliers due to revisions.  Planners analyze and adjust schedules, as necessary, driven by changes in Master Schedule, raw material availability, or production constraints. Balance inventory plan with production constraints considering Master schedule and corporate goals. They perform activities required to implement Engineering design changes as assigned. Schedules and releases orders to individual departments and analyzes new orders to plan, schedule and release to achieve goals of inventory, customer service, safety, quality, and budget.  Monitors inventory control record anomalies, seeks adjustments as necessary, analyzes results and adjusts schedules. Initial analysis of component usage history, order patterns, future demands/forecasts, supplier’s minimums/multiples, contamination, cost, LT, etc. 

 

Skill Set

  • Associates degree and/or 3 years of incremental experience in the above listed knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 years in a planning position with experience in a lean environment preferred.
  • Must possess leadership skills to motivate other employees to achieve company goals. 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use BEC (Bodine Electric Company) information systems such as Visual PDM, 4th Shift, etc. 
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other process documentation. 
  • Knowledgeable of industrial safety systems and regulations such as OSHA workplace regulations. 
  • Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing techniques of value stream mapping, kanban, JIT, one piece flow, etc.  
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required.
