Job Overview
Summary:
The individual in this position reports to the Senior Manufacturing Buyer and VP of Operations and is responsible for the implementation of optimal logistics processes and material management systems within the unit and for the logistic performance of the suppliers. Provide support services to procurement analysts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate with suppliers on a day-to-day basis regarding schedule releases.
- Schedule requirements for purchased materials such as economic order quantities, optimal inventory level, delivery, and material replenishment.
- Responsible for the implementation of optimal logistics processes and the material management systems within the unit and for the logistic performance of the suppliers.
- Provide support services to procurement analysts.
- Schedules and expedites the delivery of purchased materials to support a production plan, including recommendations for premium logistic alternatives when appropriate.
- Processes supplierâs non-conformance and expedites corrective actions.
- Works with the procurement analysts to maintain an ongoing relationship with assigned suppliers to monitor and improve supplier performance.
- Measures the performance of the supplier and defines corrective actions.
- Negotiate with suppliers to resolve short-term performance problems.
- Execute inventory plans using systems parameters and material replenishment strategies to achieve inventory/asset management and material flow goals.
- Drives continuous improvement in terms of performance with the supply base using Achieving Excellence process and criteria.
- Executes the logistics requirements for the supplier concerning container packaging methods and parameters.
- Arranges agreements with the suppliers on appropriate logistics processes.

- Experience in supply chain management, purchasing or production planning in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, preferably with experience in imported goods.
- Excellent math skills
- Experience with MS Office Suite
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; detail-oriented
- Ability to work under pressure, time constraints, and shifting priorities
- Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills
- Working knowledge of ERP inventory systems (Epicor experience a plus)
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Education and/or Experience                                                  Â
- Associate degree required
- Or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
Language Skills                                               Â
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and policy and procedures manuals/ instructions.
Computer Skills Â
Ability to use Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and be proficient in the ERP inventory software.Â
Mathematical Skills                                       Â
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
