Your Responsibilities

The Program Manager for the Psychiatric Medical Institution for Children (PMIC) Molitore and Supervised Apartment Living (SAL) programs is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the adolescent residential programs. This role involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting a safe and supportive environment for the youth in care. Additional responsibilities include:

  • With support, provide clinical guidance for Hillcrest’s adolescent units.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the youth residential programs.
  • Ensure that each resident receives individualized care and support tailored to their specific mental health needs.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services, coordinate training programs for staff on topics related to adolescent mental health, trauma-informed care, and therapeutic interventions. 
  • Ensure that all program activities align with the organization’s mission, values and objectives. 
  • Recruit, train and supervise program staff, including therapists, counselors, and support staff. 
  • Facilitate communication between residents, their families, and the treatment team. 
  • Develop relationships with community resources and stakeholders to support the program and its residents. 
  • Monitor the progress of residents and adjust care plans as necessary. 
  • Address any behavioral issues or crises promptly and effectively. 
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain high standards of care.
  • Monitor for compliance with all required documentation including daily logs, incident reporting, and medication management. 
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • Ensure the efficient use of resources and maintain financial accountability. 
  • Coordinate staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage, continuity of care, and compliance with staff ratios. 
  • Ensure that staff are informed about the latest research and best practices in adolescent mental health care. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

What You Need

  • Licensure as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human service-related field required. 
  • One (1) to three (3) years’ supervisory experience for LISW or LMHC, three (3) to five (5) years' supervisory experience for Bachelor's degree only.
  • Valid drivers license and the ability to meet the requirements of an eligible agency driver required

About the Program

Hillcrest's Adolescent Residential programs provide treatment programs for behaviorally challenged teens that are highly respected and nationally accredited. The academy is one of only a few providers in the State of Iowa that provides a full continuum of residential services on one beautifully landscaped campus with excellent facilities, and is located in Dubuque, Iowa. These continuum of services include: foster group care, a dual-diagnosis Psychiatric Medical Institution for Children (PMIC), supervised apartment living, and therapy and medication management.
