Job Overview

General Summary

Inspect materials and products, such aluminum and steel castings, using blue prints, written instruction, and gages to verify accuracy. Full time benefits eligible position subject to our attendance and tardiness policies.

Principle duties and Responsibilities / General Knowledge

  1. Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams and confers with management staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  2. Examine products for tolerances to customer’s specifications utilizing customer blue prints.
  3. Offer suggestions as correction of flaws when run out of tolerance.
  4. Train employees the proper use of quality measuring devices (i.e.:  Micro-Height)
  5. Perform light maintenance on inspection machinery and tools.
  6. Cleans and maintains environment with in the department.

Job Specifications

  1. Run checks on machined customer products to ensure established tolerance levels are met.
  2. The basic ability to read, comprehend and follow complicated blue prints and the ability to perform complex arithmetic and geometric calculations in order to perform the complex tasks described above. This is normally acquired through the completion of a high school education and on-the-job experience.
  3. Have a great understanding and knowledge of CNC machines and the developing knowledge of sequence of operations, tool selection and repair. This is obtained through on-the-job training
  4. The ability to meet deadlines and to concentrate and pay attention to detail and quality through the use of appropriate gages, for 80% of work time.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills necessary to work others.
  6. Standing and walking required for 2/3 of work time.
  7. Work requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and has been classified as medium duty per the Department of Labor standards.

Working Conditions

Will be working around machinery on a continuous basis.  Requires standing for periods of time on concrete.
